HTML 5 received a lot of hype just before its launch. Since, there wasn’t any real HTML upgrade in the last 10 years; HTML 5 had created great anticipation in computer programmers around the globe. After it was edited by Ivan Hickson, HTML 5 was adopted by the World Wide Web Consortium.

The main idea for the creation of HTML 5 was to reduce the extensive use of plug-in based internet applications, and technologies like Adobe Flash, Sun JavaFX and many others. The first draft of HML 5 that came into public use was in 2008. The importance of HTML5 is not well understood yet, but there are ongoing discussions among web designers on this topic. Web developers looking for web designs get a lot of advantages from this updated language.

Offline Support

HTML5 provides a host of features that provides increased capacity to store more of your information offline. Through the offline support in HTML5, you can store more than just cookies and cache. This is a big plus for web developers and especially for the mobile application developers. When the internet connection is lost, some of the important applications will continue to work.

Canvas and Video

It’s not like adding images or videos to the web page was a big issue before HTML5. However, now adding pictures has become uncomplicated like never before. As for the videos, it was somewhat troublesome to add them but with HTML5 it can easily be added. Additionally, the images and videos can be viewed through other browsers and mobile applications.

Geo Location API

This feature is not actually the part of HTML5. The use of HTML5 is mainly associated with mobile devices, therefore, the discussion of GeoLocation API goes along quite well. This application allows the developer to integrate any location specific information with an application. For instance you are looking for a coffee shop and can’t locate it; your android device will help you locate the nearest one. This explains why an iPhone asks for your current location.

Advanced Forms

With the help of this feature, the browser of your mobile is capable of handling a lot of background information. This will help you certify that the information entered online is completely accurate. There won’t be any need to run additional scripts for checking validation. This speeds up the loading time and the user experience will be enhanced.

Once the developers become aware of all these advantages, they might think of using HTML5 that instant. It is a good deal but using HTML5 is not always a developer’s decision.

Microformats Are Not Fully Utilized

Not every browser is capable of supporting microformats. In HTML5, new tags are used in a web document. Even the new semantics in HTML5 can be utilized in a web document but they are not capable of utilizing microformats. If you are a graphic designer and have to work on the web, this can be a pressing problem.

It is clear that HTML5 is user-friendly and has some other helpful features. However, it will take a while to get fully integrated so that it can match the requirements of every web developer. It won’t be wrong to say that HTML5 has a bright future until there is a scope for mobile internet.
